Well, I'm happy to say that Cash and Nate have now become the best of friends! I never thought this day would come :)

Halloween - Round 1

Well, it was a bit of a rough start around our house. Cash absolutely did not want to put his costume on...he's hated it ever since I bought it, like 3 months ago. But after some compromising (letting him take his Lightening McQueen as long as he left his hood on) he finally succumbed to my threatens ;)

First up...Harn Homestead. We had a hard time trying to decide which place we actually wanted to go to, Harn or the Zoo, but we ended up going to the Harn Homestead because it was the closest to our house. Cash was a little timid at first but he warmed up pretty quickly.

This picture best describes the evening once Cash figured out what it was all about. He was a red patent leather blur yelling "Candy, Candy" as loud as he could, giggling the entire time :)

Cash was having so much fun Trick-or-Treating, I just couldn't bring myself to ending the night. So, we loaded up in the car and headed over to the Zoo.

The trip to the zoo was difinitely worth the $7.00. It was so much fun!! You walk the big loop around the zoo and every so often there is a little venue set up, they're great for pictures but I couldn't get my Guitar to stand still long enough. People were giving out candy at each venue and every so often in between.

I healed quite fast...didn't I?

Well, that wraps up night one of our "All Hallowseve" adventures. It was filled with fun, laughter and just sheer joy at watching my little guy have so much fun! Luckily, I think he's forgot about all his loot....aside from the sucker he had for breakfast this morning, he hasn't really cared too much about it. Now, I just have to make myself do the same :)

Thursday was our big Halloween Party at work. Each department had a theme and ours was "Zombie". We had our whole department all decorated and had a great time. I struggled with what I wanted to dress as. I originally wanted to go as a dead Disney character but didn't have much luck finding exactly what I wanted. I, of course waited until Wednesday to try and put together an outfit. I hit all the party stores with no luck insight. Just when I thought I wouldn't be dressing up anymore, I walked into a thrift store at 8:00 pm and guess what beauty caught my eye.....this lovely dress circa 1980 something :) It was much "lovelyer" before I "zombiefied" it. I don't look so much dead as I do beat up, but I had a good time. Here are a few pictures from the day.

Two Days Down!

Well, the old saying "Third Times a Charm" does not apply to this situation. I'm going to be starting back to work in a few days so that means I had to put my baby boy in daycare :( And he is not okay with this decision. Today was his third day there and it was the worst drop off yet. He actually ran from his teacher so she couldn't pick him up when I was walking out of the room :( Then I heard the door shaking violently when I was walking down the hall away from his classroom. Awful!! He's always super excited to see me when I pick him up and he jibber jabbers all the way home in the car telling me about his day so I'm hoping it will only be a matter of time before drop off is easier. My fingers are crossed. Not sure my heart can handle too many more door bustin' escape attempts.

I'm I awful for taking that picture of him bawling? Hey...I want to remember the good times and the bad :)

2 years ago on this very day an 8 lb. 4 oz. little bundle of joy, who goes by the name Cashion Ray Laird, entered into this world. Can you beleive it!?! My little maniac is 2 years old!!

"Fat Tuesday" & "Wordless Wednesday"

Wow!! Did the CEO of Taco Mayo really comment on my last "Fat Tuesday" post!?! I'm very flattered or totally gullable :) If you knew my brother-in-law or Spence's co-workers, you would understand where some doubt might slip in. Either way, I appreciate the comments and support, from Mr. Earhart and all of you!

Mr. Earhart made some great points, some that I was aware of and some that really sparked interest. 3000 calories = 1 lb - I'm sure I learned that sometime during my time at school but I probably payed no attention. I was much thinner then and probably could not comprehend someone eating so much....but just look at me now! I know that it is not the resturants that I frequent making me fat, but the choices I make while eating at those fine establishments. You guys are probably tired of hearing about my "all or nothing" mentality and I do realize it's really only an excuse, but it is totally how I eat...all or nothing, baby!! I'm the kinda girl that orders tater tots when I dine at "America's Favorite Drive-In." But why just get tater tots when you can have cheese tater tots and why just eat cheese tater tots when you can have cheese and chili tater tots? Go BIG or Go Home, right? Well, probably not the best catch phrase when it comes to eating, but that's how I eat =D See, while I know those are bad choices, they are the choices I've been making and putting me into this sticky situation of being 40 pounds heavier then I was when I graduated high school. That's right 40 but pushing 50!! Gosh, that's so embarassing to come right out and say. I'm withholding my actual weight because I still see a lot of you and I don't want you to be totally disgusted and feel the need to lock up your pantry and fridges upon me entering your homes. Or I could post a "Before" picture of me in just my unmentionables. That might call for total banishment from your houses, uh? While I could probably afford to throw up my last meal, I'll save you guys the trouble of having to do the same by NEVER posting one of those pics :) Okay, I'm starting to ramble. FOCUS!!

I must say that since my inaugural "Fat Tuesday" post, I'm improving on my decision making. Last weekend was our "Christmas in July" celebration. There was lots of food and goodies for me to indulge in and I think I handled the situation fairly well. I never felt miserable from over eating as I tend to do at family functions. I did hover over the chips and home-made salsa, rather much. But that's a fairly good choice, right? Granted, I may have eatten more then I should have, but I'm a work in progress. The one thing I really tried to focus on this past week was laying off the pop. I can count on one hand how many sodas I had and I'm fairly satisfied with that number. Especially considering I've gone days drinking only pop and nothing else. I've had to fight off a few headaches induced by caffine withdrawls but I think I've made it over the hump. Spence only had to come home from work once to find me curled up in the fetal position, whimpering for just a taste :)

I'm going to continue down the road of "Good Food Choices" and add "Moving It" into my mind set this coming week. Let's face it, the only right way to lose weight is to eat less and move more. So, I'm going to tighten up my sneakers and hopefully find a good pair of shorts that won't be effected from my thighs rubbing together. Let's face it, having to constantly pull at your shorts because your crotch is eating them is just not right. Or easy to pull off and still look like a lady. But I did just say crotch, oh goodness I did it again...guess I'm no lady :)

Wish me luck as a burn up the pavement!!!

Oh, and I did go to Taco Mayo last week with all the intention in the world to try something off their Salsalita menu, but I'll be damned if I didn't drive away with a 3-Cheese Nacho instead! Maybe next time :)

....sexual preference aside, of course, I think Cash could turn out to be the next of either. This weekend we headed down to Duncan for the "1st Annual - Allen's Christmas in July Celebration."

The entire family, my mom's mom and her 2 sisters families, werethere and it was a blast!! I think it was my Aunt Debbie that said it was pretty neat that 2 people turned into a family of 35. And I'm pretty sure that at one point in time nearly all of us were in the pool all at once. Great times!!

I'm going to leave all the picture posting of the day up to Lacy. I'm pretty sure she had her camera out a lot more then me :) For now, I'm going to get back to the title of this blog.

As most of you have seen from previous posts of mine, my little guy LOVES the water! Well, over the weekend he got so good at swimming. Granted he has floaties on to keep him afloat but he was literally swimming laps around the pool keeping up with all the big kids. Well, along with swimming, he has found a new passion in diving! He'd dive in, swim over to the ladder, climb out and do it all over again!

Fat Tuesdays!!

Okay, folks...I'm FAT and it's time that I do something about! Now, this is a fact that I've know for quite sometime and have done little to fix it. Tuesdays at The Life of the Laird's is now dedicated to blogging about my ginormous self and what I'm going to do to become less ginormous. I'm hoping that going public with my efforts will help keep me accountable and on track.

I know my husband is reading this and rolling his eyes because my attempts in the past have been very lame and short to say the least. I have a tendency to get in the "all or nothing" mentality with weight loss. I stock up on food that I know good and well I will not eat....

1.) because I'm thinking about that cheeseburger up the road at McDonald's and how much tastier that would be. That thought consumes me until I give in and call Spence, "Hey why don't you just stop and pick up some dinner tonight."

2.) the thought of cooking something just wears me out. Resulting in a phone call or quick text to Spence - "Bring home dinner...you know what I like and don't forget the coke!"

That "all of nothing" mentality goes for working out, too. I feel I have to do this huge amount of cardio to be effective which, of course, only burns me out in a very, very short amount of time.

Is it really any wonder why I'm fat!? Aside from stuffing my face with food constantly, I have apparently ate my will power, as well. While I know good and well that a diet of McDonald's, Taco Mayo, Wendy's and Sonic will do nothing for me except make my behind dimply, I have done nothing to remedy the situation except stock pile workout videos (no more late infommercials for me) and waste money on food that sets and spoils in my fridge. While the dimples on my sons rear-end are adorable, mine are not so much and I'm just not okay with that.

I get dressed and look down at myslef and think, "I don't look too bad." It's not until a look in the mirror or see a picture of myself that just makes me sick {Thank you, Lacy, for that lovely picture of me in my bathing suit, by the way :)}. "Is that really what I look like!?", and "What happened to me!?!" are just a view of the censored thoughts that go through my head. Well, no more!! I want to look at a picture and be happy with what I see.

I know they say that telling people you are trying to lose weight is a sure fire way to fail....something about them sabotaging you or something. But I'm going public. I need to be held accountable. So, if you see me around and I'm drinking a pop or stuffing my face, quickly slap the food out of my hand and shame me into going for a jog :) I mean it!!

So here's to getting those clothes out of the back of my closet that I love but no longer fit into, walking into a trendy store and finding something that fits, looking good and feeling better!!

Drained Pool = Uppercase Opportunity!!!

After seeing the picture of someone using Uppercase Living on the steps of their pool, I knew I had to try it! My parents just drained their pool so they could repaint it {big "Christmas in July" celebration coming up...I'm sure I'll blog all about it :)}. I got my mom onboard, ordered a custom expression and some embellishments and went to town!!! I finally go them all installed. Keeping my fingers crossed that it all stays put =D I've been telling my customers at Open Houses that they will work in pools....hopefully I won't have to eat my words =D I guess we'll see.....my dad is filling the pool as I type.

My Big Debut!

Well, I'm venturing out and doing my first craft show type thing tomorrow :O The store that I sell bows out of in Edmond has a "Warehouse Trunk Show" every couple of months and they invite their consignors to participate as well. I went and did my booth set up today and checked out some of the other boothes, too. Lots of cute things!! Think An Affair of the Heart on a much, much smaller scale. So, if any of you guys living in the OKC/Edmond area are in the mood to do a little shopping, you should definitly stop by. I'm including a coupon that you can print and if you bring it in you will get 20% off any item at the show (I think). It's 20% off something, just not sure if there are limitations to that. The address to the show is on the flyer. It's located on Kelly between 33rd and 15th.

My booth is a little "Plain Jane" compared to most of the others but there are not too many ways to display bows. But Ihave to give a great big THANK YOU to my dad for helping me put together my display stands. Spence helped too and of course my mom was around to help out with the little maniac, so THANK YOU to you guys, too! If I remember to bring my camera with me tomorrow I'll take some pics of my big debut!! Wish me luck!!

Kiddie Land, Revisited!

We went and spent the weekend with my parents and had a great, relaxing weekend hanging poolside! I took lots of pictures of my little "Water Dog" swimming away but I thought I would spread my posts out a little bit and start with our visit to Kiddie Land. I blogged about this little park last year here but whenever it is open we always have to visit and I, of course, have to take pictures so sorry about the repeat blog topics :)

I was a little curious how Cash would take to the rides this year. He LOVED them last year!! Ed and Sue took him to the carnival in Woodward a few weeks ago and he did not enjoy himself. So I just figured he would react the same to these rides....but he didn't!!! He rode each ride like a Champ!! We'll start with what I believe to be his favorite ride at the park. The trains!

There is a tunnel that the train goes through and all the kids riding on the train scream real loud when it goes through. Cash didn't do it at first but after his second train ride, he caught on :)

Time for the Carousel! There was actually a milestone for Cash reached on this ride. Cash isn't much of a talker. He grunts and points A LOT!! Well, for the longest time now, when ever he sees a big animal he moo's. He thinks every large animal is a cow!! Well, he rode the horses and started neighing and snorting like a horse!! I was so proud!! He's a little slow when it comes to talking but he is one athletic son-of-a-gun!

Now, on to my favorite ride. The Tilt-A-Whirl!! Or as Spence would call it the "Tilt-A-Tourture." He's not a big fan of spinning rides :) But he sucked it up and rode with Cash and me. Cash was too young to ride this ride last year so I was excited for him to ride it this year.

I was almost pretty sure that we would have to stop mid-ride so we could get off because Cash wouldn't like it but when it got going he loved it. He screamed like a girl the whole way through :) Not because he was scared but because he was having fun!! There was still a point in the ride I was sure we would have to stop.......but that was to let Spence off =D

The Airplane ride that he liked so much last year was broke :( But I'm pretty sure this wasn't our last visit to Kiddie Land this summer so hopefully they will be working next time.

So, this was the first time Cash ever did this and I'm so glad I got it on camera. I'm also so glad Winnie is a very patient, laid-back dog. Winnie puts up with a lot between Gertie biting her tail all day long and now, Cash trying to ride her like a horse. Apparently the boots just bring out Cash's inner cowboy.

My mom and dad came up on Monday and we took their boat out to Arcadia for a few hours. It was Cash's first time to actually swim in a lake and I don't think he liked it as much as swimming in a pool, but I can't say they I don't blame him =D

I've captured a few funny moments on video that I thought I better get posted before I completely forget about them. Hope you enjoy!

This first video I'm naming "Block Party in the Hood." Being that our house is 70 years old, most of our windows do not open. So, on cool nights we will prop open the front door to let the breeze in. Well, a couple weeks ago, Cash decided to meet up with a few of friends and party on the front porch. They had a pretty good time, I think :)

This next video was from this weekend. We went to Woodward to celebrate Riley Ann's 3rd birthday. We stayed at the Holiday Inn and spent most of our time at the pool. My little man is quite fearless when it comes to being in the water. Good thing and a bad thing. Gotta keep an extra close eye on him. He goes under water all by himself, jumps off the edge whether your looking or not but I think his favorite thing to do is walk down the slight slope from the shallow end into the deep end. He just keeps walking until he is completely under water. I think we're gonna have lots of fun this summer at Nana "T" and Pop Pop's pool. I'm calling this video "Sink or Swim."

These next videos are a series of 3. As some of you may have picked up on from my blog or my sisters blogs, Nate is not a big fan of Cash's. Well, they spent the whole weekend together in pretty close quarters and I think it was a good thing. Nater Tater only had a few melt downs and by the end of the weekend he was even letting Cash touch him!!! I'm not sure what happened between these two to make Nate this way towards Cash but I think he might be out growing it......maybe :) I hope so.

Drum Roll, please........................

Here's the semi-finished project!!! We still need to do the guttering at the top, the other peak and the decorative air vent thingy in that peak. We need a higher ladder before we can go any further. I'm not sure the picture does it much justice :( I looks so good in person!! We've gotten lots of compliments from passer-bys so I'm very pleased!! It's a whole new house!! I might just be able to tolerate living it a little bit longer :) I use to not be too big of a fan of the brick color but now that we've changed the paint color around it, I like it. Funny how that happens. Well, what do you guys think so far?

This clown doll was mine when I was little and now Cash has grown a fondness for him. He looks a little scary but he was one of my favs growing up =D He's been tucked away in Cash's toy box with some other dolls that I didn't think Cash would have much of a liking for but he was drawn to "BoBo." Probably because he called out Cashion's name in the middle of the night =D I apologize if any of you have problems sleeping at night after seeing the picture of BoBo. But, Cash and I love him!! Cash can even say his name! One of like 5 words he says now. His getting better at picking up on words so I think he'll have a lot to say before long. And maybe the next time you see BoBo, he'll be clothed. I'm not sure what happened to his clothes but I've got my eye on an outfit on ebay.

So, Cash got into that muddy mess while I was outside painting today. We are slowly making progress on the painting. This rainy weather hasn't helped much. But Cash is going to stay the weekend with his grandparents so we're hoping to get it all done. Until I can show you pics of the finished project, I'll leave you with just a taste.

Well, Mandy G., the work on our house painting got started this weekend and you said to let you know who we found to paint for us. Well, his name is Cashion Laird. He's pretty good at what he does if you don't mind the occassional paint splatter in your flower beds or sidewalks. He has a tendency to forget that he is suppose to paint only the house and might turn to repainting your deck or window screens =O But never fear, he does eventually get back on track! He takes a lot of breaks that range from some time on his Big Wheel to perfecting his golf swing =) And his choice of wardrobe is a little questionable, too. Guess his company couldn't afford the standard white overalls. All-in-all he turned in a pretty productive day on the job site, but I'm not sure I'm ready to refer him to friends just yet. Let's see how he finishes the job =)

Latest Trend In House Painting....

......Stripes!!!! So, Spence and I have thought about making this idea the next "BigThing" when it comes to painting the outside of your house. What do you all think!?!

Well, maybe not stripes :) I'm not sure we can pull that off. Plus, it would take entirely way too long to accomplish. We are painting the outside of our house though. And after spending a small fortune in paint samples and testing and then retesting each color in different combinations, I think we finally settled on a color or should I say, colors!

These pictures were taken before my last run for samples so I don't even think the green color that we are going to end up using is pictured! I think it will turn out very nice once it's finished and we hope to get started in the net couple of weeks. Stay tuned!!

Cash was lucky enough to be able to spend a couple of weekends in a row hanging out with all his cousins but upon his return he picked up this habit from his cousin, Riley. I can't say that it's that bad of a habit because it frees me up to get a few things done. All I have to do is get him a snack, make sure he is covered up and he is good......for a little while anyways :) So, maybe I should be saying Riley Ann Moore, you're a Saint =)

Fun In The Sun!

Well, Cash and I decided to take advantage of the great weather yesterday so we pulled out the sprinkler and played in the water. Cash was mainly just interested in drinking the water :)

But when Spence got home, Cash had a blast running through the sprinkler with him. When it comes to his daddy there is nothing better in Cash's eyes :) He copies EVERYTHING Spence does and wants nothing to do with me when Spence gets home from work. It's so cute to watch him with his dad.

Lacy, I'm sure you got a good laugh out of watching that video. She thinks the way Cash runs is the funniest thing. He better get a lot better at running or he's not gonna be much of an athlete ;) We need to work on less butt wiggle.

We then moved to the backyard, we caught him trying to sneak a drink of water when we were filling up the dogs water dishes :)

First Fishing Trip!!!

Couple of weekends ago when we were down at my parents for my mom's Uppercase Living Open House, Cash's Pop Pop thought he better take him out fishing. My dad and Uncle Larry had just got back from a Fishing Tournament in Texas and didn't have much luck so Dad thought he would try his luck at a lake in Duncan. Me, Cash and Pop Pop loaded up and headed down to the lake. Cash fell asleep on the way down there but as you'll be able to see from the pics, he woke right up when we got on the boat!!

After all the fishing, Cash wanted to take a turn at driving the boat. Needless to say, we went in a lot of circles :)

So, it been awhile :( I really just haven't had too much to blog about lately. It's been pretty boring and quite around here recently. But here are a few pictures and some videos that I've managed to take over the past couple of weeks for your enjoyment.

My little Casher Basher has been quit the "Ladies Man" lately and has gone on two dates with his little "Gal Pal" Miss Layne. Here they are on their first date at P.F. Chang's.

They were pretty entertained watching the cooks prepare food.

Here is the "Happy Couple" on their second date at Brix. I think Cash was feeling a little more relaxed around his girlfriend on this date because as you can see, he is being quit the gentleman by eating off her plate :) In fact, Cash pretty much ate Layne's entire bowl of Mac & Cheese for her.

Even after his dates with Layne, I'm still pretty sure his momma is his #1 Girl :)

Since the weather has been so nice around here lately, Cash has taken full advantage of it. (Please ignore our disgusting backyard. Our big dogs do absolutly nothing but bad things to grass.)

I guess it's just easier to play this way :)

Well, we visited the Ortho. today and everything went great!!! There isn't much we can do for the break except try to keep him from injurying it more and displacing the bones. The Dr. thought a sling would just be bothersome to Cash and they don't really keep him from moving it anyways. We go back in 2 weeks for more X-Rays to make sure healing is going as expected. So, basically we just have to keep him from falling on it and making the break worse then it is.

Well, at the age of 17 months, my son has already seen the emergency room, had stitches and broken bones more times then I have in my whole 27 years!!! He is one up on me in all cases :)

On Thursday evening Cash took a little roll off our couch. That kind of a fall is nothing out of the norm in our household. He cried a little louder and longer then usual but that was it. On Friday, he was favoring his left arm a little bit but he was still playing and using his arm somewhat. So, I just chalked it up to being a little sore or maybe bruised. Saturday came and he was using his arm even more. He ran around all day playing with his cousin Riley and even jumped on her new trampoline with no signs of pain. Well, Sunday afternoon rolled around and he was playing with my Aunt Debbie's cat. He went down onto his hands and knees and came up screaming!!! After that, he wouldn't use his arm at all. Occassionally bend it at the elbow but it stayed fixed to his side. This morning it didn't seem any better so we headed to the Dr. There was some noticable swelling so he sent us over to Baptist to have some X-Rays taken. That was a fun experience. I had to apologized to the Tech for the headache that she'd probably have after we left :) Anyways, we get a call back from our Dr. after he's looked over the X-Rays and Cash has a Undisplaced Fracture to his left clavicle. We've got an appt. with an Ortho. tomorrow to determine our next step. In the meantime, he is still running around liked a crazy person, with only the occassional sign of pain if he bumps his arm on something. I must say that he is one tough little guy!!!! I'll update you guys when we get back from seeing the Ortho.

Our Weekend Visitor!!!

Colter Bolter came and spent the weekend with us while his Momma went to Tulsa to hangout with some of her girlfriends from college. While I enjoyed his visit, I'm glad it was just that......a visit. He's a GREAT baby but I need a little more time to get my own maniac under control before I have another. That and a bigger house. It seems mine has shrank over the years :) Anywho......Cash LOVED having his cousin Colt here. I think I could have left the 2 of them home by themselves and not had to worry. Cash was great at getting bottles, wiping Colt's face and giving him some lovin'. Colt probably left with a headache because Cash's hugs and kisses tend to turn into haedbutts but Colt handled it all very well. He's welcome to come back and stay with and Aunt LeLe and Uncle Spence anytime. Riley is too!!!

We started off our Holiday Season with a visit from Nana and Poppy Laird the weekend before Christmas. Cash always has so much fun with his Nana and Poppy. He has a tendency to make his mommy and daddy sad when they are around because he wants absolutely nothing to do with us :( He is literally attached to his Poppy's hip when he is around. Sue and Ed came down on Friday night and stayed throughtout the weekend. We did a lot of running around and just hanging out. We always have a good time when they come for a visit.......they have a tendency to spoil us a little too much though.

Thanks again for coming to visit and for all the wonderful gifts.

On Tuesday night we had our little family Christmas. We went out for our traditional Mexican food dinner :) and when we got back someone had come for an early visit.......SANTA!!

On Christmas Eve we headed down to Duncan to visit Grammy and Pop Pop. Cash LOVES visiting Grammy and Pop Pop's. Their house is so big he just runs and runs and runs around it. There is so much for him to get into and that's exactly what he does. The first thing he does when he gets there is go to the playroom and get out a vacuum, a cordless phone and a set of keys. I swear.....it never fails. I guess he's waiting on his call to go clean something up.

Well, when we got to Grammy and Pop Pop's, Lori, Scott and Nater Tater were there waiting on us. Nate did much better this time around at tolerating Cash. He didn't cry too much :) On Christmas Day the Moore's arrived and all the hoopla began. Here's my attempt at getting a picture of the kids all together. Check out Colt's face. I think he is thinking......"Here we go again with all the pictures."

Thanksgiving, Parades and Decking The Halls.....

.....Oh My!!!!! Well, I've neglected my blog long enough!! Thought I better do my Thanksgiving blog before it was time to do my Christmas one :) This year we spent Thanksgiving with Ed and Sue and we all had a wonderful time. Spence's cousin Erich and his wife Shelley were also there. That was so nice because we don't see them too often. For some reason I didn't take very many pictures and some how a few that I wanted to post got deleted off my camera :( Forgive the poor photo quality and red eyes. If I had to edit photos it might be next week before I got this post up :0

On to the second subject of this post.......Parades!!!! As most of you probably know from reading Lacy's blog, we went to Duncan this past weekend so the kiddos could ride on Pop Pop's float. My dad's company sponsored and built a float that was in 3 parades in one day!!! It was such a cute float!! Here are some pictures from Parades 2 and 3. Cash didn't get up in time to make an appearance in the 1st parade of the day that took place in Marlow. My dad called me tonight to let me know that the float took 1st Place in the Marlow Parade!!!! Congrats Dad!!! You worked yourself to death on it so you deserve it!!!

Cash getting in a few practice tosses with the candy. I don't know why.....he was in a horrible mood so he wouldn't even ride the float inthe parade. I had to carry him through the entire parade. And it was the longest parade in the world by the way.

After a much needed nap for Cash, we headed to Comanche for the 3rd parade.

Technically, Cash's are Wrangler's :) Cash and I took a little day trip to Grammy and Pop Pop's today because Cousin Nate was there visiting. Lori and I went into this Western shop there in Duncan to try to find Nate a coat and I walk out with this little ensemble. I just couldn't resist :) Is he the cutest little Cowpoke or what!?!

Gearing Up For Winter!

With the cooler weather just around the corner, I thought I better get out Gertie's winter coat :)

As you can tell in the video, she just loves her boots!!

And just so everyone doesn't think I'm some crazy dog person that dresses my dogs up all the time....those boots were actually bought for medical purposes :) When Gertie broke her leg she had to have something that would protect her cast when she went outside and the grass was wet.

Lori posted some good pictures that our family had taken this past weekend but I thought I would share a few of my favorites. The lady that took our pictures was very patient with us and took lots and lots of pics. 290 to be exact!!! So, out of that many pictures, you know there is going to be some good ones :)

Yeah, my eyes are closed but check out my dad's expression. Priceless! He looks like a little boy on Christmas morning and he just got the best gift ever.

This one you probably had to be there to get the full enjoyment out of it. But I know my sisters will bust out laughing. My mom was laughing in the picture taken right before this one and the photographer said "Okay, give me serious." And without a seconds hesitation my mom whipped her head around and gave us this face. It was hilarious! From laughing to a face that would stop you dead in your tracks :)

Our First & Hopefully Last.....

....(for awhile anyways) trip to the ER :(

Nobody is really sure what happened because no one actually saw it happen except Riley. So, all we've got is the word of a 2 year old to go by. And as she explains it, Cash was playing with this odd, gigantic, monster truck of a stroller that my parents have and it fell on him. We think that is what busted his lip. Then Riley says he was trying to get up from that little accident and he fell again and that is how he busted his chin. All I know is I heard this awful cry and then look to see my son coming towards me with blood just streaming down his face. Needless to say I FREAKED!!!! But all in all I think I handled the situation fairly well. I got him inside and wiped down to see that he had bite through his lip...yeah, he bite through his lip. NICE! So, we thought we better head to the ER. Of course, being the loyal blogger that I am, I documented the whole experience with pictures.

This was after we saw the doctor. A sucker makes everything so much better :)

Here are pictures that I took today (the day after the how ordeal). His bottom lip is so swollen we couldn't resist calling him Buford Blue, aka, Bubba of Bubba Gump Shrimp :)

Luckily, he walked away with no stiches and all his teeth still intact. A little Dermabond glue under his lip and chin and we were sent on our way, which surprised me seeing that he did bite through his lip. Apparently, they rarely stitch the inside of the mouth. Go figure. He's handled the whole thing quite well. Last night he barely slept so hopefully tonight will be a little better. For my sake anyways.

Elmo provides Cash with endless entertainment all day long and plays a catchy tune that is stuck in my head for the same length of time.

Sorry about the poor video quality. I have to be a little secretive when it comes to videoing him dancing. He's very particular about what I can and can not shoot. I guess he thinks the videos are going to get in the hands of some hot shot choreographer and they'll try to rip off his moves. He's that good folks....just take a look for yourself.

...Some BED Head!! I guess I never really thought boys got bed head, but let me tell you...my little guy constantly has it!! This is how he woke up from him nap yesterday afternoon. Most have been a good rest :)

Here are a few other pictures from this week. Cash and I have been at my Mom and Dad's since Saturday because Spence has been out of town working. We don't like being at home by ourselves so we thought we would come and crash at Nanny "T" and Pop Pop's. While we were there Cash helped his Pop Pop mow the yard. Let's just say he wasn't a real big fan of that particular chore.

Lara and Boston are doing great! He was born today around 2:30 (?), weighed 7 lbs 5 oz and was 20 in.

I also wanted to share with everyone a pretty funny "Kids Say the Darndest Things" moment from today. So, Lara is "test driving" the whole breast feeding thing and I was holding Abbie, who is 4 years old, up so she could see Boston. Well, Lara was feeding him at the time and she asked what she was doing to him. So, I told her that Lara was feeding Boston. Now, at this point Abbie had a pretty confused look on her face and she then proceeded to ask "he's eating her boobie!?!" Ha, Ha!! I thought that was too funny!

Well, after almost 2 months of setting in our backyard still in it's box, Cash's swingset that he got from both sets of his grandparents for his birthday is now up a running!! It' took 3 nights of working on it and Cash is so glad it's together!

Cash thought that he needed to be out there with the guys...keeping them on schedule, making sure they are putting it together right....you know, everthing that a 1 year old should be doing.

My Little, Boozing Confederate Soldier!

Yeap, you guessed it! We made a little visit to Frontier City this last weekend and you know we had to have our picture taken. They are a little hard to see because they are a picture of a picture but I think you get the point

Here's Cash on his first ride of the day and I might add that it was my fathers last ride. This little kiddie ride made him so sick he wasn't the same the rest of the day :)

Mom and I were the only ones that really braved the rides. Spence rode a few with me but the daring, high flying ones are not up his alley and Lord knows...if Dad couldn't handle the spinning Tea Cups there was no way we would get him on any of the other rides.

Leave Cash alone with Pop Pop for the length of one ride and this is what we come back to. Cash must have really enjoyed that cookie :)

Wasn't I a doll.....man what happened :) Don't you just love the "Bowl Cut?" You'll find, in later pictures that I post, this obvious was a favorite haircut of my moms. I think I sport this hairstyle up until the age of 6. Some versions are a little longer then others, which resulted in a mullet. That's right folks.....a mullet!! Aren't you eagerly waiting on the edge of your seat for me to post those pictures. All in due time folks, I promise.

So, after watching all the Olympic coverage and learning that some Chinese athletes get put into training camps at the age of three, Spence and I thought we better start working with Cash. You know......because he's going to be a "World-Class Athlete" someday :) Well, this week we've been working on his speed. As you can tell from the video, we've got the makings of a "Future 100 Meter Dash World Record Holder" training right here in our living room! Watch out Usain Bolt, Cashion "Quick Feet" Laird is hot on your heels!!!!

Oh, and that mess on the floor....it's not really a mess, merely obstacles to help with training and not the fact that Cash felt the need to sort the mail :)

It's Been So Long......

.....I figured this could constitute a "Throwback Thursday" moment. We finally finished our kitchen and dining room. Yeah!!!! It looks really good and I'm so happy we did it. Even though it was a pain living in a construction zone for so long, I'm glad we did it. It makes such a difference having that wall down. I've posted the befores to refresh your memory.

Edited to Add: Mandy G. asked what the counter tops were so I thought I would explain what all we did. Obviously, the wall came down :) Every surface got repainted - walls, trim, cabinets (inside and out - the inside of all the cabinets are the same color that the walls are in the dining room). We replaced cabinet knobs, got a new sink and faucet, granite counter tops, bead board backsplash, new outlet and light switch covers, new blinds, bead board in the dining room and new decorations :) I think that's it...who knows at this point. Oh, and the rug (you can see it best in the 8th picture) inspired the whole color scheme. I've had that picked out at Peir One for quite sometime and just knew they would sell out of it before I could afford to buy it. Luckily, that didn't happen.

This is only my second week of doing "Throwback Thursday" and I'm already late on the posting :)

So, this throwback memory was about 26 years ago, I'd say. Correct me if I'm wrong mom, but I don't think I'm more than 1 year of age in the picture. The picture quality is not the best. Sorry about that. Anyways, the picture shows my dad's version of "Babysitting." He'd put a few toys on the bed and then trap us in so he could get a snooze in. Great job Dad!! I wonder if this technique would work with Cash :)

Neighborhood Pool of Fancy Water Park....?

......how about Fancy Neighborhood Pool! Last week Kristen, Kandace, Lance and I took all the kids to the pool for "Friday Fun Day!" This pool is in Kandace's neighborhood and it was so nice and so fun! Here are a few shots from the afternoon.

Group shot of everyone. I told all of them to look at me....Camryn's the only one that takes directions well :) Seems like everyone had their eyes closed or weren't looking at the camera. Maybe I'll have better luck with pictures next time.

In the spirit of "Flashback Friday", I've decided to do this so I could join in on all the fun.

For those of you that have not officially met the youngest of my "daugthers", let me introduce you to Gertie. She's my 2 year old yorkie. Isn't she a doll!?!

Well, getting back to the "Throwback" part of this blog......here are some pictures of Gertie the night Spence surprised me with her. All 13 oz. of her :) Mind you, she was 4 months old when we got her and she still didn't weigh a pound. That "sweater" she's wearing is actually a cuff off the sleeve of a sweatshirt. She was sooooo tiny.

The day after we got her we had to take her to the vet because she went into a sugar coma. Apparently, this happens sometimes with really small dogs, but I knew nothing about it. The vet told us that we should give her back to the lady that we bought her from. His exact words were "she's behind the eight ball....she won't live very long." Well, Dr. Bertrand.....here we are two years later and she's the healthiest most playful little dog I know. She's pushing 4 lbs know and is her little brothers favorite toy, sleeping buddy and riding partner. And the best birthday present I've ever gotten!!!

Cash survived his first year!!! Quite an accomplishment considering who his parents are :) Bumps and bruises, scratches and scrapes and he's still in one piece. I know it's cliche and you've heard it a thousand times but the time really has flown by. I can't believe it!! Everyday he amazes me with the things he does. No one in the world makes me laugh as much as this little guy does. I think he's going to be quite the clown. I can't wait to see what the next year brings!! Anyways, Momma and Daddy love you so, so much Cashion!!! Thank you for bringing such joy and happiness to our lives!!!

Here's Cash exactly one year ago today!!!

I've been babysitting for Kristen and Kandace until their girls get into daycare and they through a little party for Cash's birthday today. It was so nice and Cash just loved his cookie. Imagine that, Cash loving food :)

Miss Bella thought her cookie lacked a little nutritional value so she added broccoli to balance out the sweetness :)

Well, actually not until Wednesday, but we had his birthday party this past weekend and it was sooo much fun!! We had a Backyardigans Pool Party at Grammy and Pop Pop Settle's. We had hot dogs, cake and ice cream, swimming and lots and lots of presents. Doesn't get any better then that!!!

So, here is my attempt at cake decorating. Aunt Becky, if you ever view this blog...I'm sad to say that your talent didn't get passed along to me :( It was fun to try and do though. I've decided that this will be my yearly tradition. Hopefully, they will get better year after year.

Here's the other cake that I made. It's suppose to be a volcano. Pretty pathetic....I know.

.....has arrived. It was a bit of a rocky arrival for his momma, but everything is great now. I don't think Lacy and Gregg are too excited to see all the medical bills that are going to pile up from the Air Evac ride and her little stay at The Heart Hospital, but they are very excited about their new little man.

Hope everyone had a safe and wonderful 4th!!! We spent ours pool side at my mom and dad's and just relaxed all weekend. Cash really enjoyed the fireworks. He was never scared of them but he did get a little bored of them. We drove to Marlow, a town about 10 minutes from Duncan, to watch fireworks. It was a pretty good show but too long to keep my little guys interest. It was about a 45 min. show but we left after about 30 minutes. Between Cash just wanting to get down and walk around and the screaming baby that set next to us, we deceided that was long enough. Anyways, here are some pictures from the weekend. Enjoy!!!

Before we went to the watch the fireworks, we stopped by dad's cousin house for some homemade ice cream and of course....Cash was begging for ice cream from everyone.

.....no it's Cashion!!!! So, Cash's favorite thing to do when I'm in the kitchen trying to prepare a meal is play with all my spices. Yeah, I know....me prepare a meal :0 Well, as a matter of fact, Mom, Lacy and Lori, I have been cooking. I know it's hard to believe but we only ate out once this week. Amazing in itself. But back to the blog at hand, Cash and Spices. On this particular evening, he found the food coloring and the food coloring found his face!! It took a long soak in the sink, but the green did eventually come off. YEAH!!

Okay, so what you're fixing to see is something that takes place in our house a couple times a week so I thought I better document it. And yes, I eventually got him out but not until I took a few quick snap shots.

Occassionally, Cash ventures under one of our dining room chairs chasing a run away bottle or toy. And it never fails that this is what happens. He can't find his way back out and Oh Boy does it make him mad. I guess it's the Laird in him :)
